I have heard of ECHO before so I am glad that we got to experience it! ECHo is an interdenominational Christian nonprofit organization that is a growing network to help reduce hunger and help developing countries. This nonprofit was founded in 1981 and has grown tremendously since then!

Every single ting that ECHO does is sustainable and they make a huge effort in emphasizing the importance of it to all who want to hear. Their team consists of many but the thing that I thought was the most interesting was that, every year, ECHo hires 10 interns to live and work on the ECHO property. One of the most important things that these interns do so maintain one of the many ecosystems they have on their property.
ECHO is on 52 acres of land, but we only were able to visit about 5 acres on the day of our visit. Organizations like ECHO are so important to the world and all of us because they help support the 1 out of every 9 people in the world who have malnutrition.

There were many tings about many different areas of the world that I learned that I did not know before. One of these things that I learned was that North America wastes 42% of our food. This percentage is equivalent to 63 million tons of food annually… That is insane and there is no reason for that whatsoever. We heavily need to “minimize your own waste,” and if we all do our part, then big changes will happen.

There are two different types of bamboo at ECHo and both are multi purpose. This was one of the first times that I have ever seen such big bamboo up-close and it was amazing!
The jackfruit tree is another important of ECHO that was discussed. Something interesting that I learned was that every jackfruit gets really big and are a great alternative for BBQ for vegetarians because it can be a good substitute for pulled pork or a nice steak.

This here is major source of water at ECHO. It is a called a suction pump and is powered by hand. The way that it is done is by cranking!
Overall, I really enjoyed my trip ECHO and look forward to going back soon to volunteer!!!!
